Waterside

The house and landscaping were designed to maintain the health of the iconic beech tree during the building phase.

Nature has generously provided incredible views from this piece of land on Holly Pond in Darien, CT. The Waterside property hugs a small inlet of The Long Island Sound with astounding water views to the east, west and north. We were determined to make those vistas accessible from every room in the house…

The architectural and landscaping inspiration for the home was an old, 96-inch European Beech Tree.
The home is a modern copy of an 18th-century colonial, a style commonly found in Connecticut.
The living area/study has understated trim work and 10-foot ceilings.
The dining room has the best view of the European Beech Tree. As the sun goes down, the landscape lighting will slowly illuminates the perennial garden flowers surrounding the tree.
The heart of the home is an open, multi-functional, multi station kitchen with miter-cut, stone breakfast table.
The wood and stone cooking island, range with a stone-wrapped hood and glass tile wall, floating, antique, white oak shelves, and modernized cabinetry with Scandinavian lighting.
The first-floor study, or partner’s room, has a built-in window seat and is easily accessible from the guest parking area.
The master bedroom is designed feel like a hotel suite with multiple water views and a deck overlooking the backyard, pool, gardens and pond.
The master bath offers an expansive vanity, soaking tub, multi-head steam shower. The cloth-like, heated, porcelain floors warm your feet and feel like walking on freshly-laundered linen.
An infinity-edge pool blends visually with the tidal pond, which wraps around to Long Island Sound.
The property hugs a small inlet of The Long Island Sound with astounding water views to the east, west and north.
